You take care of your skin daily - use a cleanser and a moisturizer, try to eat healthy and get enough sleep, but the condition of your skin is just not improving as much as you'd want to? The fine lines are getting deeper, or the skin just stays as dry as it ever was?
It could be because of many different reasons to which I won't go into in this article, but one simple solution for the problem or at least a big help might be to include a facial hydrating mask into your skin care routine.
What do hydrating masks do to your skin?
In short, they give your skin a boost - an extra portion moisture. If you choose a good mask, it will also pamper your skin with natural plant oils, antioxidants based on plants and vitamins, as well as essential lipids and fatty acids, all which will help you in keeping (or restoring!) your skin youthful, healthy and glowing. This is especially important if you have a dry skin, but in general hydrating masks will do good for almost all skin types.
How often should you use hydrating masks?
Usually you will get great benefits from using the same mask once in every two weeks. If you are using different kinds of products, like a cleansing mask alongside the hydrating one, you can use these masks weekly in a changing rhythm: week one, use the cleansing mask, week two, use the hydrating one, week three, the cleansing mask again.
Using masks more often won't bring any additional benefits. In fact using them much too often (like daily), might make your skin even worse, making it even snake-like.
What are the key ingredients to look for in hydrating masks?
For every skin type and climate, there are some essential ingredients that you should be looking for, for example vitamin E. It is a very powerful antioxidant and plays a big part in fighting the signs of age on your skin.
You will also want to have some high-quality plant-based oil in your moisturizing mask: avocado oil is very good, as it is especially hydrating and also beneficial for aging skin.
What you don't want in your hydrating mask is mineral oil, strong fragrances or alcohol, all which are more likely to dry and irritate your skin rather than moisturize it.
